Berwyn Boot Room
Berwyn Boot Room
The Berwyn Boot Room project in the suburban town of Berwyn, just outside Philadelphia, was designed to revitalize a space for a young family, enhancing functionality and storage while bringing a relaxed European style. Working closely with the client to understand their needs and vision for the space along with creative planning, we developed a custom design concept that combines functionality, expands the space, and perfectly reflects the client's personal style..
The newly designed laundry and mudroom space features a palette of dark blue cabinetry, soft white wall paneling, brass hardware, and brick herringbone floors balancing practicality with style. The space was rethought to streamline household chores and expand coat and shoe storage as well as expand and rethink the use of cabinetry. We stacked the washer and dryer units to allow space to incorporate a convenient sink and add to the overall utility of the home. Ample storage and seating were the main considerations, leading to a thoughtful cabinetry plan with additional storage solutions throughout the space including cleverly placed cabinetry, shelving units, and hooks to optimize organization. At the same time, a long bench offers a comfortable spot for family members to put on shoes.
Extending beyond the main mudroom area, the project flows into the hallway and powder room, where the design elements continue with the addition of wallpaper and dark blue paneling. A closet was converted to add additional bench seating and storage to maximize available space and integrate more storage. In the powder room, a warm wood vanity with brass hardware softens the dark moody paneling.
